Heropanti Movie Review

Womens page Rating :2.0/5
Movie Review: Heropanti
Star Cast: Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon, Prakash Raj, Vikram Singh
Director: Sabbir Khan

Boy looks at girl. Boy falls for girl. Girl’s father growls. Boy scowls. Girl howls. And I’m left sobbing into my popcorn.

As you can see, Heropanti, which presents a couple of gormless debutants Jackie’s son Tiger as the hero and Sanon as the heroine in a story that is objectionable at so many levels.
It’s set in “Jatland”. Yes, that’s what they call it in the film. Which gives them the excuse to present its women as goongi gudiyas and its men as patriarchal bullies. The plot seems ripe to expose the evils of the Khap and its pernicious ways: not allowing women to choose their partners, while giving the men of the family, and every passerby, a free hand to beat and humiliate them, and as a parting shot, to kill them.

But the way Heropanti does it, giving full play to the father (Prakash Raj) and his cohorts, as they punch hapless brides and grooms to pulp, it seems like a championing of the Khap cause. Every time a girl was slapped, or yanked around by the hair, the people sitting alongside me tittered.

Bablu (Tiger) and Dimpy (Sanon) tread the tired paths Bollywood has ordained for young lovers for the past 25 years: he’s the dulha and has to make off with his dulhaniya, but not before the mandatory song-and-dance and rona-dhona. Tiger has a fine set of ripped muscles which he shows off in shirtless scenes. He does a good job of wiping blood off his chin, and holding off goons. He can do action, sure. But you are also required to say your lines and romance your girl: did no one think of those crucial things?

Raj keeps forgetting he’s meant to be a Jat, and slipping into his real voice. He gets to make emotional speeches and shed tears too: we share his feelings, because he’s the only real actor in this enterprise.
Is this all they can think of in the name of a fresh love story?

Tiger Shroff makes his debut with Heropanti, a remake of Telugu film Parugu. The film is a regular masala fare but Jackie Shroff's son certainly leaves a mark.

Film: X - Men: Days of Future Past
Cast: Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and Hally Berry.

X Men: Days of Future Past
Story:
When the film starts we first see the future where robotic sentinels have been programmed to somehow track down and execute mutants. Magneto (Ian McKellen) and Professor X (Patrick Stewart) are around and are losing the war but they continue their fight.

The remaining X-Men, now clad in futuristic black rubber have a plan in mind: using the teleportation abilities of Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page), she will now send Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) back to the 1970s. His job is to stop the creation of the Sentinels. The tough part for him is to get Dr. Xavier and Magneto to work with him again.

There are some interesting twists and turns to keep you engrossed, Dr. Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage) was killed by Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) as he was conducting some experiments on mutants. The story unfolds step by step and within no time you are a part of the X-Men world.

One of the best scenes is the escape from Pentagon. A young man's escape with the help of Quicksliver (Even Peters), a mutant who runs at supersonic speed and manages an escape from a high security den, the scene funny and spectacular! There are some important appearances by Anne Paquin and Hally Berry.

The action and visual effects are excellent. The scale in many scenes is breathtaking. For Hugh Jackman fans it's a must watch, he is in top form once again and is the show stealer!

Star Cast : Rajinikanth , Deepika Padukone
Director : Soundarya R. Ashwin
Producer : Sunil Lulla
,Sunanda Murali Manohar
,Prashita Chaudhary
Music Director:A. R. Rahman

Vikrama Simha Movie Review Story:
‘Vikram Simha’, a Period Drama, is the story of a Son (Rana) who is on a mission to help his Father (Vikram Simha), both played by Rajinikanth, regain his lost glory.

Artists Performances:
Watching a Superstar like Rajinikanth in a Photo Realistic 3D format is going to be a new experience for his massive fan base and the common audience in general. Deepika Padukone is a treat for eyes even if its Animation. The best part is bringing a legendary comedian like Nagesh (Tholi Prema fame) who had passed away back on big screen using the technology. Rest of the cast Sobhana, Nasser, Sarath Kumar, Aadi, Rukhmini and others played their part.

Plus Points:
Rajinkanth: Style, Voice & Trademark Dialogue Delivery!
Superstar introduction sequence
World-class Technology
AR Rahman’s Background score
Second Half
Visual Grandeur
An AV of 3D Motion Capture shown in the beginning
Production Values

Minus Points:

Animated Rajini: It’s too early to say how the masses will embrace it!
Lacks Technical Finesse
Long Fight Sequences
First Half
Inclusion of 3rd Rajini isn’t convincing

Vikrama Simha Movie Review
Analysis:
Soundarya Rajinikanth deserves appreciation for her good intention to introduce a new technology (3D Motion Capture which was earlier used in Hollywood films like Titanic and Tin Tin) for the film lovers all over Asia.

Not many of the film buffs knew about the that Rajinikanth shot for ‘Vikram Simha’ just for 7 days, Deepika Padukone for 2 days and Rest Of The Cast for another 7 days. Only the expressions and the body language of the artistes have been captured, rest of the work has been done using Technology which is the future! You might hate it or love it, but can’t ignore it!!!

Kudos to Rajinikanth and Soundarya for taking the initiative despite being aware of the huge budget, time constraint and high risk factor involved. Wish Indian Films would compete with Hollywood in terms of technology from now onwards

In Andhra Pradesh, "Manam" has reportedly received better response than historic drama "Vikramasimha" and the Akkineni starrer is expected to outperform the Rajinikanth starrer in the state.

In the US, "Manam" is likely to give tough competition to "Vikramasimha" as both the films are carrying good buzz among fans. The multi starrer has taken a fantastic start and is likely to continue its successful run at the US box office. With Monday being a holiday (Memorial Day), "Manam" is all set for a big opening weekend. Manam Movie Review

Womens page Rating : 4.0 / 5.0
Movie : MANAM 2014
Release date : May 23, 2014
Duration ; 2hrs 10minutes
Gener : Family Entertainer, folk sentiment
Director : Vikram Kumar
Producer : Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Akkineni Nagarjuna
Music Director : Anoop Rubens
Banner : Annapurna Studios Pvt Ltd

Starring :
Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, Shriya Saran, Samantha, Brahamanandam, Tanikella Bharani, Ali, M.S.Narayana, Jayaprakash Reddy, Posani Krishnamurali, Naginedu, Saranya, Kasi Viswanath, Ravi Babu, Vennela Kishor, Melkote etc

Manam is perhaps one the most awaited films in the history of Tollywood. Starring the entire three generations of Akkineni family, this film is touted as the farewell film for the legendary ANR. We have been to the special premiere today, and are bringing you the detailed review now. Let’s see how the film is.

The film begins with telling the story of a couple in 1983. As their troubled marriage threatens to be on the verge of total collapse, a six-year-old boy stares at an orphaned future in the aftermath of a surreal happening. Cut to the present, the boy, now a revered businessman, named Nageshwar Rao, still misses his loving parents. As his subconscious yearns to meet them, happy coincidences change his life forever.

Story:
The film starts off with a feud between a couple in Radha Mohan(Naga Chaitanya) and Krishnaveni(Samanta). They have a little son named Bittu. After a few days of problems in their marriage, the couple dies in a car accident. The small kid, Bittu grows on to become a rich and successful business man in Nageswara Rao(Nagarjuana). One fine day, Nageswara Rao gets the shock of his life, when he meets Nagarjuna(Naga Chaitanya) and Priya(Samanta). This immediately reminds him of his parents, and he then plans to develop love between the young couple and get them married.?On the ?other hand, one fine day, Nageswara Rao accidentally helps an old man Chaitanya(ANR) and also meets Anjali(Shriya) in the hospital. This time it is a shock for Chaitanya, who sees Nageswara Rao and Anjali together. Why is Chaitanya shocked ? What does he have to do with the entire set up ? How are these characters connected ? For all these answers you need to watch the film on big screen.

Surprise Package :

There are two surprise packages that is Big B Amitabh and Akkineni Akhil make a special appearance!
Akhil seems to be all set to rock with his excellent screen presence.

Plus Points:

Where do I start from in this section. Every frame of Manam, is just a celebration. The concept, execution and the way the entire movie has been handled is supremely brilliant. It is just a treat for the eyes to watch all three generations of Akkineni family in one frame. Starting with the legendary ANR, he just proves what an legendary actor he is. His screen presence, and the way he has gone about his role, is probably the best thing in the film.Nagarjuna plays the sheet anchor’s role to perfection. His scenes with Chaitanya are hilarious, and both the father and dad share a sizzling chemistry. If this was not enough, icing on the cake are the scenes between ANR and Naga Chaitanya in the second half. One particular where the entire three generation actors have a drink is hilarious, and has been conceptualized perfectly. With this film, Chaitanya has gone a step ahead and has grown as an actor. Though he looks like an underdog in front of seasoned actors like Nagarjuna and ANR, he surprises everyone with his improved acting skills. He looks mature and has shown good variations in his character.Samanta has probably the best role among the female leads, and performs to the tee. Her scenes with Nagarjuna are wonderful and bring out beautiful emotions. While
Samanta steals the show in the first half, it is Shreya who does an awesome job in the second. She shares a beautiful chemistry with Nag, and especially their love track has been executed perfectly.Anup Ruben’s music is yet another major plus for this movie. All the songs go with the flow, and have a sweet feeling. There is high voltage of entertainment factor in this film, as multiple stars scorch the screens.

Last but not the least, Akhil’s dynamic entry makes the movie complete. The way his cameo has been inserted in the story is brilliant. Akhil looks are to die for, and this young Akkineni entrant has sizzling screen presence. To sum up, one can say that if audience will miss ANR, he will definitely live on in the form of Akhil.

Minus Points:
Probably the one and only minus point in the film is the less screen time that ANR appears. Some logical scenes between Samanta and Naga Chaitanya about how they recollect their past, is not that convincing.
But who cares, all this goes washed away in this beautiful film.

Highlights of this movie :
Naga Chaitanya's Character name in this film is "Nageswara Rao"
Movie has an Amazing Interval Bang which has some Interesting twists and reveals the story
Bollywood Baadshah Amithab Bacchan and lavanya Tripathy Done a Guest roles in this film
Brahmanandam Comedy and scenes between Ali,Samantha and Chaitu are big assets of the film
Two songs from the film were beautifully shot at Araku valley
ANR looks is a big highlight of the film and he will be the director for all 3 Generations in the film
Movie has a rich productional values like Vikram Kumar’s stylish Direction and Anup Rubens BGM
Movie Run Time is 2hrs 10 minutes
Climax 15 min of the film will touch the hearts of Audience.

Naga Chaitanya will be seen as father of Nagarjuna in a timeline and grandfather of ANR
The film is touted to be an interesting knit between two different eras of time.
This is the first ever telugu movie which covers all Three Generations from the single family
Movie is releasing grand in more than 100 Screens in AP and over all 2000 Screens worldwide
This is the first film in Tollywood history which is releasing in more than 100 Theaters in USA

2 States movie review Hindi Movie Review

2 States movie review Hindi Movie Review

Womens page rate 2 states moview 4/5

Krish's relationship with his family, particularly his mother, is better explored than his relationship with Ananya, which results in 2 States being more of a deep and meaningful family drama than a romance, notes Paloma Sharma.
The one sure thing that is common between North Indians and South Indians is that they crack jokes at the expense of the community that resides far on the other side of the country. Abhishek Verma's 2 States does the same, except that it has no qualms admitting to the same.
2 States takes the North-South divide extremely seriously and since, according to the film, South Indians are from Venus and North Indians are from Planet Red Bull, I should probably disclose here that my loyalties lie on the Northern side since perspectives are bound to differ based on culture and geography.
The film opens with Krish Malhotra (Arjun Kapoor) settled on the sofa of a psychiatrist's office as he narrates the story of his life. What follows is the usual boy-meets-girl story.
They fall in love.
Their parents don't.
It's a well known fact that in India, you don't just marry the boy/girl, you marry their entire family. 2 States chronicles Ananya Swaminathan and Krish Malhotra's trials as they try to make their parents see that their love for each other is above the petty lines of region and language, but their effort of bringing their families together threatens to tear them apart.
2 States has more than its fair share of Madrasi-Punjabi jokes. If it were a Bond film it would probably be called Stereotypes Galore. It is a little annoying how, throughout the beginning of the film, Krish uses his Punjabi-ness as an excuse for everything.
Sample this, "Punjabi hoon. Khoon garam hota hai humara."
Uh huh.
Totally legit, bruh.
Krish's idea of courtship is, as Superwoman aka Lilly Singh pointed out, "I, man. You, woman. So…" Krish freaks out when he sees Ananya wearing shorts and behaves quite immaturely until he finally confesses his feelings.
In the beginning the relationship is all biology (which really makes it annoying to watch), but something about spending time with Ananya sees Krish growing up. Ananya, for her part, seems to be completely sorted with hardly any internal conflicts and very little back story. However, it is a relief that the film does not see her losing herself and being someone she's not just because love and marriage have come into the equation.
You see Krish's character evolve from childish and afraid to grown up and confident, and though the journey is sweet, it is a tad long at two-and-a-half hours.
Since I am privy to the information that 2 States is based on Chetan Bhagat's semi-autobiographical, eponymous novel, I cannot stop imagining his head on Arjun Kapoor's body for the initial moments in their courtship. But Kapoor grabs the reins the moment Ronit Roy, who plays his father, enters the scene and the full force of the turbulent relationship between father and son hits you.
Scenes between Roy and Kapoor are intense and almost alive. The circle of alcohol, abuse and anger, and its devastating effects on a family are portrayed delicately. Nothing is too graphic but the understanding of what you are compelled to read between the lines is more powerful than any amount of dramatic shows being put up. Verma handles abuse with the proper sensitivity, which is a rarity for Bollywood.
Krish's relationship with his family, particularly his mother, is better explored than his relationship with Ananya, which results in 2 States being more of a deep and meaningful family drama than a romance.
On the other hand, Ananya's relationship with her family, her conflicts with her mother and her closeness to her father, her parents' marriage, her mother's musical troubles and her father's dislike for Chennai remain unexplained. The Swaminathan's sudden warming up to Krish seems unlikely if they are as conservative as the film claims they are. This makes the family drama seem a little one-sided.
Amrita Singh plays the typical Punjabi mother to the T and the clash of cultures makes for a highly amusing watch. As someone who has not read the novel, the narration, though humorous, feels a little inconsistent. Though I cannot put a finger on it, I feel like I'm missing out on something that's supposed to provide the link between one scene and the next.
The romance is a slightly unbelievable. It flows a little too smoothly and often gets wrapped up by showcasing a montage of lovey-dovey clips played to a song. Krish seems to have superhuman strength as he starts his day at 6 am by providing IIT coaching to Ananya's younger brother, Manju, moves on to work and ends it by romancing his lady without as much as developing dark circles or exhibiting signs of tiredness.
The song-and-dance sequence at Krish's cousin's wedding undermines the seriousness of the culture clash but provides a good enough opportunity for 2 States to take a strong, unapologetic and rather hilarious stand on dowry -- something that we North Indians have normalised a little too much.
Although Aliaa Bhatt seems more Kareena Kapoor Jr in the initial stages in the film, she really grows into the character and makes you believe that she's a career-oriented IIM-A grad. Arjun Kapoor for his part is Krish. You don't see the guy from Gunday. You only see Krish Malhotra. Although, given his character's inclinations, one would think that he's button up his shirt.
2 States might be a romance but it takes romanticism too far. In the age of computers, Krish sets out to write his novel on a typewriter out of a broken heart. Moulin Rouge, much?
The film is really cheesy but I won't hold that against it. Stereotypes are never lacking and even though, as a North Indian, I understand what the film is trying to say about different points of view of looking at the same thing, I also find the extent that they take it to a little offensive.
I find it a little hard to believe that in today's world Tamilians and Punjabis hold such views about each other. This is not to say that it is untrue but that it is difficult to digest for someone from a metro who has had friends from all communities throughout their life.
2 States' romantic angle is a little difficult to connect given the way it is moved along in such a hurry in order to incorporate everything, but the family side of the bargain is truly touching. I ended up crying at least thrice in the film. The father-son relationship is bound to bring tears to one's eyes. Redemption is closer than it seemed before. But the end is a little too convenient. Forgiveness does not just come automatically, just because you want it to, after enduring screams, broken glasses and empty chairs.
Nevertheless, there's nothing that should keep you from watching 2 States. If you're as desi as I am and get senti about maa, there's no way you won't run home after watching this film and give your mother a big hug.
Performances
While Alia Bhatt is consolidating her position in the industry with very film she is doing (from downright flashy and deliberately over-the-top in Student Of The Year to refreshingly stunning in Highway and now brilliant in 2 States), Arjun is proves how he can grow on you as a performer slowly, but surely. The 21-year-old spunky Alia has absolute disregards for the camera, but she seamlessly switches her body language and facial expression as per the way in which a shot is mounted and a sequence is designed. Her range is promising and ease unbelievable. Arjun too has matured into a remarkably promising actor since his Ishaqzaade days.
And then you have the supporting cast who are as much a part of the storyline as the lead couple. Amrita Singh as the loud, flashy yet hopelessly loving Punjabi mom is both hilarious and captivating. Revathi is deliciously cute and funnily conservative . The veteran has a dignified screen presence. The deliberation in her performance and hesitation she has employed while portraying an adorable Tamilan mother is unmistakable. ( Watch her croon  karnatic song and swiftly switching to a Hindi number pictured on her from a Salman Khan starrer decades ago will make you whistle) Shiv Kumar Subramaniam has played Ananya’s stern but malleable father with conviction and Ronit Roy has proved with his acting prowess that he needs more substantial roles that can serve justice to his craft.
Final verdict:
Hate Chetan Bhagat or love him, loath his books or swear by them but you certainly can’t ignore him and most certainly you can’t ignore this delicious movie made with sincere efforts and heart. If you are madly in love, lonely without love or in search of love, you must catch this one, for falling head over the heels for someone is not enough. Sometimes taking a step further to take affection to its logical conclusion- no matter how the odds are stacked – initiates the beginning of a happy ending. For now it is advisable to enjoy the journey, the process and the mush will follow!
