Chandra Namaskar Moon Salutation Mantra Benefits

Chandra Namaskar Moon Salutation Mantra Benefits

The word chandra means ‘moon’. The sequence of asanas is the same as Surya Namaskar except that Ardha Chandrasana, the half moon pose is performed after Ashwa Sanchalanasana. Whereas the twelve positions of  Suya Namaskar relate to the 12 zodiac or solar phases of the year, the fourteen positions of Chandra Namaskar relate to the fourteen lunar phases.

Best time to do Chandra Namaskar:
Chandra Namaskar is best practiced at evening/night, especially when the moon is visible. While practicing at night, ensure that the stomach is empty. When you can, practice Chandra Namaskar in the evening. Surya Namaskar is traditionally practiced at sunrise as a way to pay homage to the sun and to warm up the body for the coming day. It makes sense, then, to practice Chandra Namaskar in the evening when the moon is out. Not only is it a great way to prepare yourself for sleep.

sunrise and sunset have always been considered powerful times for practicing hatha yoga. "During these times, there's a balance between light and dark. It's not day. It's not night. You're at a junction between the two. This reflects internally in your body: Your hot and cold energies are also in balance. It's a natural time to do the practice. In addition to the time of day, you might also consider the time of the month that you practice. Rea suggests choosing a few days during the new moon, the full moon, and the waning moon (the 14 days after a full moon), since our energy is lower during those times. For women with a menstrual cycle, Chandra Namaskar can be a balm for low-energy days.

Most important, move slowly. This means that you don't have to sync each movement to an inhalation or an exhalation the way you do with Sun Salutations. Savor the practice, just as you would a carefully prepared meal, and allow it to bring you into a more present state. "You're not participating in the whole 'quick fix' when you do this practice.

Benefits of Moon Salutation (Chandra Namaskar):
Chandra Namaskar helps you in channelizing the lunar energy; which has cool, relaxing, and creative qualities. Chandra Namaskar also stretches the spine, hamstrings, and backs of legs; strengthens leg, arm, back, and stomach muscles. Like all other yoga practices, it is important that you learn Chandra Namaskar under proper supervision and guidance.

7. On the next Exhale – ASHTANGA NAMASKARA
Coming onto your toes, simultaneously lower the knees, chin, and chest to the floor. The hips and abdomen remain raised.
Modify:Lower the knees first then the chest and chin

8. Inhale – BHUJANGASANA
Keeping the hands and feet in place, slide the chest forward and raise the chest up. Opening the shoulders (pulling them away from the ears) and tilting the head back to look at the sky. The hips and thigh should be on the floor.
Modify:Keep the buttocks and thighs engaged (squeezed) to prevent problems in the lower back. Unless you are very flexible dont try to straighten your arms

9. Exhale – PARVATASANA/MOUNTAIN POSE

14. Exhale – PRANAMASANA
Bring the palms together in front of the chest center. (Same as step 1)

Repeat the cycle reversing the legs in Steps 4,5,10 and 11 (Ashwa Sanchalanasana and Ardha Chandrasana), to stretch the other side. Rest all the Postures will be the same.

Moonlight Meditation:
This meditation, adapted from the Bihar School of Yoga, can be done before or after you take the final resting pose, Savasana (Corpse Pose).

Sit in a comfortable cross-legged position. Slowly become aware of the space between your eyebrows. Within this space, visualize a full moon in a clear night sky, shining brightly on the waves of the ocean. The full reflection of the moon penetrates the deep waters, and the cool shade of moonlight catches the tops of the waves as they dance.

See the image clearly and develop an awareness of the feelings and sensations that are created in your mind and body. Slowly let the visualization fade and again become aware of the whole body.

Coronavirus Tips|COVID-19 Prevention Tips Symptoms Treatments

Coronavirus Tips|COVID-19 Prevention Tips Symptoms Treatments

Even after almost 6 months of COVID-19 outbreak in India and rapidly increasing cases, some people have not been taking the viral disease seriously. According to them, if they are destined to get the virus they will, in any case. If you also think the same, you are highly mistaken. You will contract the virus only if you do not take enough precautions and won’t maintain good personal hygiene.

During the pandemic, you may be thinking that ordering things online is safe than going out for shopping and you can remain unaffected this way. Though it does reduces your risk of getting the novel virus, you are not 100 per cent safe from getting the disease. To nil even the slightest possibility of being affected by COVID-19, you should abide by certain hygiene rules. Read further to know about them.

Protect yourself and others around you by knowing the facts and taking appropriate precautions. Follow advice provided by your local health authority.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • Clean your hands often. Use soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Maintain a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  • Wear a mask when physical distancing is not possible.
  • Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  • Stay home if you feel unwell.
  • If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention.
  • Calling in advance allows your healthcare provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This protects you, and prevents the spread of viruses and other infections.
What Is Coronavirus (COVID-19)?
At the end of 2019, a new type of coronavirus began making people sick with flu-like symptoms. The illness is called coronavirus disease-19  COVID-19 for short. The virus spreads easily and has now affected people in many countries.

What Are the Signs & Symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19)?
The coronavirus (COVID-19) causes a fever, cough, and trouble breathing. Some people have a sore throat. Symptoms are a bit like those people have with a cold or the flu. The virus can be more serious in some people, especially if they are sick or have health problems.

How Does Coronavirus (COVID-19) Spread?
People can catch coronavirus from others who have the virus. Most often, this happens when an infected person sneezes or coughs, sending tiny droplets into the air. These can land in the nose, mouth, or eyes of someone nearby, or be breathed in.

How Is Coronavirus (COVID-19) Treated?
Most people with COVID-19, including children, do not have serious problems. After seeing a doctor, most get better with rest and fluids. People who are very ill get care in a hospital with breathing help, IV fluids, and other treatments.

Protect yourself and others from the spread COVID-19:
You can reduce your chances of being infected or spreading COVID-19 by taking some simple precautions:
  • Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.
  • Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and others. Why? When someone coughs, sneezes, or speaks they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person has the disease.
  • Avoid going to crowded places. Why? Where people come together in crowds, you are more likely to come into close contact with someone that has COVID-19 and it is more difficult to maintain physical distance of 1 metre (3 feet).
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. Why? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and infect you.
  • Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately and wash your hands. Why? Droplets spread virus. By following good respiratory hygiene, you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.
  • Stay home and self-isolate even with minor symptoms such as cough, headache, mild fever, until you recover. Have someone bring you supplies. If you need to leave your house, wear a mask to avoid infecting others. Why? Avoiding contact with others will protect them from possible COVID-19 and other viruses.
  • If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention, but call by telephone in advance if possible and follow the directions of your local health authority. Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections.
  • Keep up to date on the latest information from trusted sources, such as WHO or your local and national health authorities. Why? Local and national authorities are best placed to advise on what people in your area should be doing to protect themselves.
Safe use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers:
To protect yourself and others against COVID-19, clean your hands frequently and thoroughly. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer or wash your hands with soap and water. If you use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, make sure you use and store it carefully.
  • Keep alcohol-based hand sanitizers out of children’s reach. Teach them how to apply the sanitizer and monitor its use.
  • Apply a coin-sized amount on your hands. There is no need to use a large amount of the product.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose immediately after using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, as it can cause irritation.
  • Hand sanitizers recommended to protect against COVID-19 are alcohol-based and therefore can be flammable. Do not use before handling fire or cooking.
  • Under no circumstance, drink or let children swallow an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. It can be poisonous.
  • Remember that washing your hands with soap and water is also effective against COVID-19.
Leave The Parcel Outside For 24 Hours:
The novel virus is highly contagious and can remain on grocery and other items for multiple hours and even days. Touching them when the virus is active can increase your risk of being COVID-19 positive. So, it is advisable to leave the parcel or the delivery outside for at least 24 hours. If the item inside the package is perishable, get rid of the outer covering right away and wash your hands with soap and water.

Change the Food Container:
If you have ordered food online, make sure you remove the packaging right after taking the delivery. Then wash your hands with soap and water. Now, transfer the food immediately in another container. Again wash your hands with soap and water properly.

Clean The Items:
Throwing the coverings away doesn’t complete your job. Once you bring the goods inside your home, you are advised to clean them properly with soap, water, or cleaning wipes and disinfectants. Vegetables and fruits can be cleaned using plain warm water with chlorine in it.

Less often, people can get infected if they touch an infected droplet on a surface and then touch their own nose, mouth, or eyes.

Is Coronavirus (COVID-19) Dangerous to Children?
There seem to be far fewer cases of the virus reported in children. Most kids with the infection caught it from someone they lived with or a family member. The virus seems to usually cause a milder infection in children than in adults or older people.

Doctors and researchers are working on medicines and a vaccine for coronavirus. Antibiotics can't treat viruses so they won't help with the coronavirus. Medicines for the flu don't work either because the coronavirus is different from the flu virus.

What Teachers and Childcare Providers Can Do:
Preventing the spread of germs will help protect you from COVID-19. Take these steps:

Wash your hands well and often. Wash for at least 20 seconds with soap and water or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Try not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth, especially if you haven't washed your hands.
Many schools and childcare centers are closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. But if you still have children in your care:

Regularly clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that the children touch a lot as required by licensing regulations. Currently, no added steps beyond routine cleaning are needed.
Avoid contact with people who are sick. If a child becomes sick while in your care, keep them separate from the other children while they wait to be picked up. Encourage all families and teachers/childcare providers to stay home if they get sick.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue if you sneeze or cough, then throw it out. If you don't have a tissue, sneeze or cough into your elbow, not your hands. Make sure that kids have access to tissues and no-touch trashcans.

How it spreads:
There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.
The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks.
These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
Some recent studies have suggested that COVID-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms.

Everyone Should Wash your hands often:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
It’s especially important to wash:
Before eating or preparing food
Before touching your face
After using the restroom
After leaving a public place
After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
After handling your mask
After changing a diaper
After caring for someone sick
After touching animals or pets
If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Avoid close contact:
Inside your home: Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
If possible, maintain 6 feet between the person who is sick and other household members.
Outside your home:
  • Put 6 feet of distance between yourself and people who don’t live in your household.
  • Remember that some people without symptoms may be able to spread virus.
  • Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from other people.
  • Keeping distance from others is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a mask when around others
  • You could spread COVID-19 to others even if you do not feel sick.
  • The mask is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.
  • Everyone should wear a mask in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
  • Masks should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
  • Do NOT use a mask meant for a healthcare worker. Currently, surgical masks and N95 respirators are critical supplies that should be reserved for healthcare workers and other first res-ponders.
  • Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The mask is not a substitute for social distancing.
Cover coughs and sneezes:
Always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow and do not spit.
Throw used tissues in the trash.
Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Clean and disinfect:
Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, counter tops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
If surfaces are dirty, clean them. Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.
Then, use a household disinfectant. Most common EPA-registered household disinfect will work.

Monitor Your Health Daily:
Be alert for symptoms. Watch for fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19.
Especially important if you are running essential errands, going into the office or workplace, and in settings where it may be difficult to keep a physical distance of 6 feet.
Take your temperature if symptoms develop.
Don’t take your temperature within 30 minutes of exercising or after taking medications that could lower your temperature, like acetaminophen.

Coronavirus COVID-19 Treatment:

Self-care:

If you feel sick you should rest, drink plenty of fluid, and eat nutritious food. Stay in a separate room from other family members, and use a dedicated bathroom if possible. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.

Everyone should keep a healthy lifestyle at home. Maintain a healthy diet, sleep, stay active, and make social contact with loved ones through the phone or internet. Children need extra love and attention from adults during difficult times. Keep to regular routines and schedules as much as possible.

It is normal to feel sad, stressed, or confused during a crisis. Talking to people you trust, such as friends and family, can help. If you feel overwhelmed, talk to a health worker or counselor.

BLOCKING THE VIRUS:

Antiviral drugs can stop viruses such as HIV and hepatitis C from hijacking our cells. Scientists are searching for antivirals that work against the new corona virus.

Remdesivir (Promising evidence):

It stops viruses from replicating by inserting itself into new viral genes. While it didn’t fulfill its original purpose of fighting Ebola and hepatitis C, preliminary data suggests it can reduce hospital stay in severe cases from 15 to 11 days. The latest data also hints that it might reduce death rates among those who are very ill.

Favipiravir (Tentative or mixed evidence):

Favipiravir is a flu drug that blocks a virus’s ability to copy its genetic material. A small study in March indicated that it might clear out the coronavirus from the airway, but results from larger, well-designed clinical trials are still pending.

Strawberries and kiwis are other healthy alternatives for a vitamin C-packed drink. But since it takes about four cups of strawberries to make one cup of juice, you may want to blend these fruits into a smoothie rather than a juice.

But with cases of COVID-19 on the rise in India, and WHO declaring it a pandemic there is no doubt we need to safeguard ourselves against infections. For this, it’s best to wash hands with soap and water regularly and avoid crowds. In addition, here are some home remedies traditional medicine practitioners recommend, to boost your immunity.

What Ayurveda says:
Valsala Varier, chief medical officer at Arya Vaidya Sala Kottakkal, Coimbatore, recommends three immunity-boosting drinks:

Boil a litre of water with 1 tablespoon of dried ginger, 4 teaspoons of coriander seeds and a fistful of fresh tulsi leaves. Strain it and drink

Mix one glass of milk with four glasses of water and add three cloves of garlic in it. Boil it till it is reduced to one glass. Strain it and and drink this instead of tea/coffee.

Add 1 teaspoon each of turmeric powder, asafoetida powder, fenugreek and fennel seeds with a few curry leaves to 500 ml of butter milk and warm it for five minutes. Drink twice or thrice daily.
Metabolism also plays an important role in our immunity, adds Varier. “Space your meals in such a way that the first one is completely digested by the time you have your second. Also make your dinner light, like a bowl of salad.” Another important measure is to get enough sleep and prepare the body for the next day. She suggests oil baths twice a week. “Add 100 gm of fenugreek seeds to a litre of oil and bring it to a boil. Once cooled, apply it all over your body and head. Let it soak into the skin for an hour before you bathe.”

Chaithrika GK, who practises Ayurveda at the Institute of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology, recommends this decotion:

Take 10-15 leaves of tulsi, 4-5 of parijata, 4-5 of neem, 6 of bael, and raw turmeric. Crush and boil the paste in one glass, or 250 ml of water, and reduce the solution to half. Add jaggery and cumin powder. Chaithrika recommends that you drink this after breakfast or lunch, and not on an empty stomach. “Having this decoction once a day for a week is enough. Don’t have it for long periods as it may be a burden on the liver.”

Siddha support:
Some of the easiest immunity boosters for internal use that Siddha suggests are also the quickest to make. For instance, J Jeyavenkatesh of Kokila Siddha Hospital & Research Centre, Madurai recommends that you heat four to five black pepper corns and one large betel leaf in one litre of water, until it boils. Filter it and drink it through the day. Or tweak your regular glass of butter milk by mixing the paste of 10 curry leaves in it.

The four most commonly available ingredients in any of our kitchens  ginger, garlic, turmeric and small onions can be added to bolster immunity. Add these to your chutneys, upma or rice.

Naturopathy talk:
Rukamani Nair, Bapu Nature Cure Hospital and Yogashram, suggests harvesting half a foot of giloy leaves and boiling it in two glasses of water until this reduces to one. Cool and drink a glass daily.

Eat seasonal fruits and vegetables from your region, as these are packed with the nutrients necessary for the weather.

Lemon juice is packed with vitamin C, but instead of overloading it with sugar, which diminishes immunity over a period, add a teaspoon of honey. If you have diabetes, add cinnamon.

Mantras for Surya Namaskar and Steps Sun Salutation Mantras

Mantras for Surya Namaskar and Steps Sun Salutation Mantras

Surya Namaskar or Salute to the Sun or Sun Salutation, is a practice in yoga as exercise incorporating a sequence of some twelve gracefully linked asanas. The asana sequence was first recorded as yoga in the early 20th century, though similar exercises were in use in India before that, for example among wrestlers. The basic sequence involves moving from a standing position into Downward and Upward Dog poses and then back to the standing position, but many variations are possible. The set of 12 asanas is dedicated to the Hindu God Surya. In some Indian traditions, the positions are each associated with a different mantra.

The sun sustains life on earth. Our ancient seers acknowledged this and revered the Sun. The Surya Namaskar is an appreciation in motion that is offered to the sun. It involves twelve yoga postures or asanas signifying the sun's cycles which run at approximately twelve and a quarter years. If your system is invigorated, then your cycle will be in harmony with the solar cycle. The Surya Namaskar helps create this harmony between your physical cycle and that of the sun.

Chants called Sun Salutation Mantras may accompany the Surya Namaskar. These chants bring harmony in body, breath and the mind. As the practice deepens, so do the benefits. When chanted with sincere gratitude, these mantras can take the practice to an enhanced spiritual level.

‘Om Bhaanve Namaha' means 'One who brings light.' When you recite this mantra, feel a sense of deep gratitude to the sun for giving us light and making life possible on Earth. ‘Om Suryaya Namaha' means ‘Dispeller of darkness.' In essence, it means that we worship the sun for giving us light.

However, this is misleading, as people with excess belly fat are at an increased risk even if they look thin on the outside.Though losing fat from this area can be difficult, there are several things you can do to reduce excess abdominal fat.

Do you want a flat tummy without exercise? Don’t worry if exercising is not your thing. There are a number of factors that cause and affect belly fat. Some simple dietary and lifestyle changes can help you reduce fat around your tummy.

Only by this belly fat and overweight sometimes some persons suffered by more problems.

Legume:
Legume (Beans) a class of vegetables that includes beans, peas and lentils are among the most versatile and nutritious foods available. Legumes are typically low in fat, contain no cholesterol, and are high in folate, potassium, iron and magnesium. They also contain beneficial fats and soluble and insoluble fiber. This Legume (Beans) vegetables contains dark colours seeds like red, black these dark colour seeds contains more percentage of flavonoids. These flavonoids helps to reduce belly fat.Spicy black beans soup helps to reduce belly fat.

Bergamot-Indian apple,Contains low calories and high fiber. It available in year once only.Take one bergamot apple in the season before lunch. This easily helps to reduce the weight.

Peanuts-For weight loss:
Peanuts are not low-calorie foods; however, eating them may actually be beneficial during weight loss.Peanuts are packed with nutrients, including fiber, protein and heart-healthy fats. Protein and fiber both help increase satiety, which makes it easier to control your overall calorie intake during weight loss.

Including peanuts in your diet can help you lose weight if you’re able to reduce your overall calorie intake or boost your daily caloric expenditure. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests reducing your intake by 500 to 1,000 calories daily to shed about 1 to 2 pounds weekly. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute suggests many adults require 1,200 to 1,600 calories a day to effectively drop weight.

Peanuts can increase your metabolic rate. When researchers studied resting energy expenditure on peanut and peanut butter eaters, they found that it was 11 percent greater after regular peanut consumption for 19 weeks compared to the baseline.

The fat in peanuts (the "good fat") provides satiety and taste satisfaction, so you don't feel deprived.
Since peanuts stabilize your blood sugar with their low glycemic index (meaning they are digested more slowly and release sugar gradually into the bloodstream), they provide long-lasting energy and decrease cravings.

How to be a Confident Woman

Popcorn for weight loss:
You may be wondering if popcorn is a healthy snack if you're trying to lose weight. On one hand, it's high in fiber and low in calories compared to most snack foods.

The term "whole grain" may bring to mind loaves of bread flecked with bran or a bowl of oatmeal, but popcorn also counts. In fact, popcorn eaters get 250% more whole grains in their diet than people who don't eat popcorn. And like other whole grains, crunchy popcorn is high in fiber.

Not only is popcorn high in fiber, it even delivers some protein. A 1-ounce serving (about 3½ cups) has 4 grams of fiber, almost 4 grams of protein and clocks in at 110 calories. This combination makes it a snack with staying power.

It may be surprising, but popcorn is chock-full of polyphenols, the same compounds found in berries and tea that are linked to heart health and a lowered cancer risk.Popcorn is filled with air (think about how small the kernels are compared to after they're popped). Because it's airy, you get a pretty large portion without a lot of calories. You can eat 3 whole cups of popcorn for only 100 calories. So happily eat this snacks,And say goodbye to white rice, pasta, bread.

Green tea:
Not just flavored water, a green tea diet is full of health benefits. Steeping tea leaves in boiling water causes it to absorb their bioactive compounds. Rich in nutrients, green tea leaves contain anti-inflammatory and detoxifying compounds that help protect your body from the threat of free radicals.

However, the most profound benefit of green tea is the antioxidants (specifically catechins) it contains. EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) is the most common catechin in green tea, and it is renowned for boosting the metabolism.

When it comes to enjoying green tea, how you brew it can make all the difference. Be careful not to overheat the water, as boiling will damage the catechins. For best results, bring water to a boil, but let it rest for ten minutes before pouring it over the tea. Then, pour it over the tea and let it brew for a minute before pulling out the leaves and serving them. Depending on your taste, this brew time can be made longer or shorter. Some types of green tea are better for weight loss than others. Matcha tends to be the most nutritious, as you dissolve and drink the tea leaves themselves, rather than just using them to infuse your water.

You can incorporate green tea into your diet at any time you would typically reach for a calorie-filled drink. Green tea makes a great substitute for sugary sodas and sweetened coffee drinks, and it only takes a few weeks for your taste buds to acclimate to the subtle natural sweetness it contains. In this way, you will make a difference for your weight loss routine by consuming fewer calories throughout the day, enjoy higher energy levels, and even boost your metabolism to burn the calories you do eat.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar that makes it great for weight loss.About 100 grams of apple cider vinegar has about 22 calories, which means it makes for a low-calorie drink that can help boost weight loss. Adding a tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar(ACV)into a glassful of water and drinking first thing in the morning may help burn belly fat.

Daily intake of apple cider vinegar might be useful in the prevention of metabolic syndrome by reducing obesity.

Apple cider vinegar leaves you feeling fuller for longer, thereby, preventing you from overeating or cravings. This will help you eat fewer calories and lead to actual kilos lost on the scale.
apple cider vinegar helps stabilise blood sugar levels, especially after eating a meal high in carbohydrates. Stabilised blood sugar levels are important to ensure a healthy and effective weight loss.

How to use apple cider vinegar for weight loss:
  • Never consume apple cider vinegar as it is; instead, dilute the solution in water to ensure you are not consuming large amount of acid.
  • You could use it as a salad dressing with olive oil to promote sustainable weight loss.
  • It is best to spread the consumption in two to three doses through the day and it is best to drink ACV before meals.
  • While occasional usage of apple cider vinegar may be safe, excessive usage may reverse the good effects as ACV is highly acidic. It may irritate your throat if you drink it often or in large amounts.
Some more tips :
  • Avoid junk food as much as possible. Products made with white flour (maida) are a strict no. Increase your fibre intake by consuming whole grain products. Avoiding chips and cookies is the key to reduce belly.
  • Little changes in your diet can go a long way in determining your waistline. For instance, switch whole milk for skimmed milk. Low-fat dairy products are also a great source of protein. Swap your ice cream sodas for lime water and buttermilk.
  • Instead of three heavy meals, take six small meals. Eat to satisfy your hunger, not your tongue. Know when you are full.
  • Keep a gap of two hours between your last meal and sleeping. Foods eaten close to bedtime get stored as fat.
  • If you want to reduce stomach, skipping your breakfast is a bad idea. It has been proved by studies that your body’s metabolism gets a jump-start with a balanced breakfast. When you skip meals, your body’s metabolism slows down which forces the body to break down muscle tissues for energy and conserve fat.
  • You can minimize your water retention by avoiding sodium intake i.e. your salt intake. For flavour, use other herbs and spices.
  • Starting your day with lemon juice is one of the best ways to lose belly fat. Squeeze a lime into a glass of warm water and add a pinch of salt to it. Drinking this beverage regularly every morning will not only eliminate your paunch but also boost your metabolism
  • Replace your white rice with wheat products, brown rice, brown bread, whole grains, oats, and quinoa are very good dietary alternatives.
  • When you want to lose fat from your midsection, you should keep your body hydrated. Drink sufficient amount of water to get rid of your belly fat at home. Drinking water removes toxins from your body, boosts metabolism and reduce stomach fat. Herbal tea is another tasty alternate. you can also drink green tea twice a day.
  • Chewing two or three cloves of garlic every morning with a glass of lemon water doubles up the weight loss process. It also ensures a smooth blood circulation in your body.
  • Include a lot of fruits and vegetables in your diet. Ingest a bowl of fresh fruits daily, every morning and evening to supply your body with various antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins.
  • Using lots of spices like cinnamon, ginger and black pepper in your daily meals help improves your insulin resistance and reduces sugar levels in your blood. They are also loaded with various other health benefits.

In religion, there are three parts viz philosophy, mythology, and ritual. Philosophy is the essence
of religion. It sets forth its basic principles or fundamental doctrines or tenets, the goal and the
means of attaining it. Mythology explains and illustrates philosophy by means of legendary lives
of real men or supernatural beings. Ritual gives a still more concrete form to philosophy so that
everyone may understand it. The Puranas contain various myths. Skanda Purana is one of the
most important of the Puranas.

The Skanda Purana richly illustrates the advent of Lord Murugan and His Lilas. It states that at
one time the Devas were strongly oppressed by the Asura Sooran, and his brothers, Tharagan and
Singan. Being unable to bear their ill treatment they prayed to Lord Siva and out of His abundance
of compassion ejected six sparks from his third eye, the inner eye of intuition and threw them in
the Ganges, but as Ganges could not bear the intensity of the heat, threw them into the Saravana
Poykai. This is where Lord Murugan was born, hence He is called Saravanabhavan. The six sparks
took the form of six babies and they were brought up by Karthigai Pengal. Thus, He is called
Karthikeyan. God Mother Umadevi embraced all together and Lord Subramanya took a form with
six heads and 12 hands. He is also called Guhan, Murugan, Shanmugan, and Velayutham. Guha’
means “one who dwells in the cave of the heart” or “In-dweller of the heart.”

Lord Murugan killed Tharagan and Singan at first. They represent Karma Mala, and
Maya Mala. Soorapathman represents Anava Mala (ego). According to Saiva Siddhanta Philosophy, Anava Mala is not completely destroyed but remains dormant when the soul attains bliss. Skanda Purana reveals that when Lord Subramaniya’s Velayutham killed Soorapathman by splitting his body into two parts, one part took the form of a cock and adorned His flag, while the other took the form of a peacock and became His chariot.

Soorapathman was killed by Lord Murugan on the Sashti Day i.e. the Sixth day after the new moon in the month of Ipasi (October—November). That is the day on which He bestowed boon on all His devotees. All the six days including the Sashti day are regarded as auspicious days for worship and all those who fast and pray to Lord Murugan receive special boons from Him. It is said devotees who fast on all six days get the following exils eradicated: Kama (desire), Grotha (anger), Loba (miserliness), Moha (avariciousness), Matha (ego), and Macharium (jealousy).

Lord Murugan is another manifestation of Lord Siva – born as a ray of light from Sivan’s pure consciousness. Valli and Deivayanai are His two wives. They represent the power of will (ichcha-sakthi) and the power of action (kriya-sakthi), respectively. The six heads represent the six rays or
attributes. They also indicate Murugan’s control over the five organs of Knowledge as well as the mind. That His head is turned in all directions signifies He is all-pervading. They indicate that He can
multiply and assume forms at His will.

Kanthar Sashti Kavasam is a famous Tamil hymn in praise of Lord Murugan. It is composed by Sri Devaraya Swamigal and helps one to obtain the grace of the Lord. It is sung particularly on festive occasions, such as during Kanthar Sashti in October-November. When chanted daily with concentration and devotion, the kavasam serves as a protective ‘armour’ for devotees and confer
s great spiritual and material benefits. This rare and valuable treasure helps one to be successful in our daily lives.
